DIRECTIVES IN DANCE MEDICINE

Working in dance health and science spaces continues to inspire me. Great research, bio-mechanic studies, and additional important work are sharing holistic healing approaches that support our dancing bodies.

I'm interested in conversations that explore practices and methods that enhance and promote wellness. The notion that the show must go on, has led many of us to work, and labour through periods where our bodies are calling for rest.

Among the many organizations that are offering these discussions, are Healthy Dancer Canada, and the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. As a result of the magnitude of work being done by such organizations, many dance companies are conducting directives such as pre-season screening for students that assess and support well being.

In early 2012, The Building Your Optimal Health Workshop Series was developed at I.D.I. The series was created to offer educational forums, facilitated by dance health and science practitioners, in collaboration with dance communities. I'm thrilled to be a part of this journey and in spaces where we can share and learn together.
